Barra Manteiga

A Brazilian tag game: one player chases another around a marked circle with a safe pole at the center.

Materials:

Chalk, cones, or tape to mark a circle

• 15 min+
• Energizer
• Large group (9+)
• Outside

How to play

1. Mark a large circle on the ground with a safe zone or pole at the center.
2. One player is 'it' and chases another around the outside of the circle.
3. The player being chased can dash to the center to be safe, but only for a few seconds before they have to move again.
4. Tag someone and they become the new chaser.

Variations

• Known in English as "Butter Bar" — the Portuguese name is kept here since that is what the creator used.
